General Definition of Work:
Performs responsible human support work in assisting with the transportation of pupils to and from school and special events; does related work as required. Work is performed under immediate supervision.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Providing help to the school bus driver in maintaining discipline; assisting students boarding and leaving the school bus.

- Assists with loading, transporting and unloading of all students on the assigned bus.
- Assists students with special transportation needs such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, etc.
- Assists with the security of students on school buses and observes the special needs of individuals.
- Assists the driver in maintaining adequate discipline.
- Attends field trips with students.
- Checks bus thoroughly after shifts for students and missing or lost items.
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Attends training as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of the transportation of students; some knowledge of transporting students; ability to assist students with patience and understanding; good physical and mental health; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students and the general public.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and some experience in working with children.
Physical Requirements:
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
